US Ecstasy Pill Analysis Website

A new project has been set up in the US to lab test pills sold as ecstasy and make public the results on a website.

The Ecstasy Harm Reduction Project have contracted a professional laboratory in California to test anonymously-mailed street ecstasy pills. The results (the ingredients in the pill but not the quantity), as well as a photograph of the pill, its measurements, and a description of the colour change that took place with a Marquis reagent test, are available on their website.

Details of how to to donate a pill for testing are also on the website. Due to a recent donation the service is currently free.

As well as the testing scheme, the Project is also developing a network of volunteer educators to attend Bay Area raves, set up harm reduction booths and distribute literature.
